Why this page exists
Web Mercator cannot show a pole. The projection runs to infinity at 85.05°, so no raster on the main map contains anything past it at any size. AROME-Arctic reaches 87.6°N, which is why this page exists at all: the model has a domain the main map physically cannot draw.
This is a real Arctic mesoscale model, not a global run cropped to a pole. AROME-Arctic is the same 2.5 km AROME physics as MEPS on its own domain — Svalbard, Jan Mayen, Bjørnøya, the Norwegian Sea and the Barents — run eight times a day to T+66, in the same colours and on the same time axis as every other model here. The frame is polar stereographic, true at 75° where the model actually is, and oriented on 25°W — the model's own central meridian, which is the only orientation a Lambert domain is square in. On the Greenwich-facing rotation the instinct asks for, the domain sits as a diamond filling half its own frame; on this one it fills 96 %.
The pointer readout works here exactly as it does on the main map: the raster is a colour-mapped PNG drawn through a fixed palette, so sampling the pixel under the cursor and inverting it recovers the temperature. The coordinates beside it are the inverse projection, which agrees with pyproj to two micrometres.
